At each of our Breakfast Meetings we hold a raffle with all proceeds going to our charities of the year.

Ticket price is £5 and we always have some great prizes – many of them donated by ladies attending the meeting – and the list always includes a ‘Golden Ticket’ giving the winner free admission to another DWiB meeting of her choice!

BOURNEMOUTH HOSPITAL CHARITY

Bournemouth Hospital Charity (BHC) is thrilled to have been named the local ‘Charity of the Year’ by pioneering local business group, Dynamic Women in Business (DWiB).

The announcement will see both BHC and DWiB join forces over the new financial year to raise funds for a series of women’s health projects to enhance patient care at the RoyalBournemouth Hospital.

With DWiB providing support and networking opportunities for professional women throughout the county, Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s Corporate Fundraiser, Maria Tidy, says BHC are delighted to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by the group.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the ladies to raise money for Women’s Health at Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust,” says Maria.

“As well as attending the monthly networking events we have lots of plans for the coming year – including a family day on the beach and a business exhibition and showcase.”

This year, Bournemouth Hospital Charity is looking to raise funds for a new medical scanner to help consultants detect endometrial cancer as well as enhancements to the Women’s Health Unit to help provide greater comfort for patients receiving treatment or investigations.

Dynamic Women in Business (formerly Dorset Women in Business) have a strong history of working with locally-based charities, having previously supported such organisations as the Wessex Cancer Trust and The Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund.

Women’s health has also long been a key focus of Bournemouth Hospital Charity, which was originally born out of the incredibly successful Jigsaw Appeal that resulted in the creation of the Jigsaw Building, a centre of excellence for women’s health treatment at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

NOURISH THE CHILDREN

Making a difference in the lives of children – 500 million meals donated since 2010!

DWiB also supports the Nourish the Children® initiative which is a solution to providing a consistent and growing supply of nourishing food to the world’s most needy children. This simple concept succeeds by selling a highly nutritious food – VitaMeal – and then helping people donate their purchases to third-party non-profit organisations that specialise in distributing food to those suffering from malnutrition and famine.

The primary charity partner for Nourish the Children® is Feed The Children, one of the largest international charities in the US, which specialises in distributing millions of pounds of food each year to families in more than 60 countries. The charity partner distributes the donated VitaMeal via schools at no additional cost and provides regular reports documenting the receipt of food by those in need.

DWiB are proud to have fed 30 children in Malawi in the first quarter of 2017!  An amazing achievement!

If you’d like to find out how you could support this initiative at the cost of just 50p/day to feed one child for a month, please contact Dawn Cook at rsvp@dwib.co.uk or 07757 388408.

“I am confident that Nourish the Children® will make a difference in children’s lives all over the world. In fact, it already has. This truly is a new approach to solving the terrible crisis of world hunger.”

Lee Iacocca, Emeritus Chairman of the Nourish the Children® Advisory Board
